Drop-in mode

Is there a way to implement Astaro in drop-in mode? Where I can just insert a PC running Astaro with 2 NICs between the router and LAN.  That way I don't have to reconfigure my default GW or LAN subnet on my current network.

    I *THINK* you can use proxy arp to do this, but I have never tried and don't know where to turn for more info.
    In the menu where you set up the ip addresses for interfaces - there is an option to use proxy arp.

    I don't think it's trivial though (someone please prove me wrong  [:)]

    yes, this will work when 

    a) activating proxy ARP on both interfaces

    and 

    b) setting interface routes for both the def. GW (router) and LAN network on the respective interfaces.


    this will work perfectly for packet filtering, but depending on the IP addresses you choose for the ASLs interfaces, there may be problems with services running on the ASL (SMTP, HTTP proxy etc..)
