Tripwire, Snort, etc.?

This question is premature as I have not installed ASL yet. (gonna do it tonight.) but, my questions are as follows...

Is it possible to run Tripwire to monitor changes on an ASL box?
Is it possible to run SNORT for Intrusion Detection on an ASL box?

If so what would be the recommended procedure and configuration of the applications? Is anyone currently running either of these apps on ASL?

Hopefully you guys can save me some time. Thanks.

    It is possible to run SNORT... There are some messages on the hackers forum from memory on it... 

    Tripwire should be possible, but I have not done it.
