NTP Sync

I miss an ntp synchronizing Deamon or cronjob for astaro - this is vital for logs; especially when logs are delivered to another machines syslogd :-/

    On almost any version of redhat, you can have a cron job that does this:

    /usr/bin/rdate -s clock.sgi.com
    /sbin/clock -w

    I see ASL 1.9 has hwclock, which may be similiar, but I don't see rdate

    Yes, however astaro is -afaik- based on debian, not redhat.
    NTP is vital, there shouldnt be any need to ssh to the machine for enabling ntp. ntp should be simple default. (The Client atleast). It would be good though, if one could choose the timeservers to get ntp from. En-/Disabling and Configuring via https would be a fine thing.  [;)]

    Hi,

    ASL was developed _from_scratch_ and doesn't base on debian. My development workstation I use for kernel compilation is a debian one, so the ASL kernel reports it   

    We are looking the ntp syncrinisation as a "wanted feature" and plan to include it in one of the next asl version, please be patient    [:)]
