SSH Clients

What do you guys suggest for transfering files to your ASL box, I have used WinSCP but cannot copy files into the root. I need to know 1)How to move files from one directory to another when logged on to the astaro box. 2)What program people suggest to copy files directly to the root or user for SSH. Thanks

Copy the files into loginuser

SCP uses SSH. Try to do an SSH from outside to root. You cannot do it. That is why SSH cannot do it.

I have never really worked out why admins do not really like people logging in direct to root - but that is the practice - and security people better than have made that strange decision...

hi,

copying file to asl
scp ./somefile loginuser@aslbox:/path/to/dir

copying file from asl
scp loginuser@aslbox:/path/to/file ./somedir

for more "man scp"
