Squid on Port 80?

Can anyone tell me how to get squid to run on port 80 in Astaro? I'm trying to change the configuration of squid so that it works as a reverse proxy, the only problem is that it won't bind to port 80 and I think it is because it isn't being started as root.

Anyone?

Hi,

change the file:
/var/chroot-squid/etc/squid.conf-default
to your needs. Should be the following line:
http_port 8080
and then restart the proxy via WebAdmin.

I tried that but I get an error in the cache.log saying that squid can't bind to the port. My guess is that it doesn't start as root therefore no permissions to bind to ports under 1024. [:S]

Hello,

yes, the squid runs as "squid", and therefore cannot bind on the port 80. You could let squid run on the port 8080 and use DNAT instead to solve this problem.
