Token RIng "NIC" support?

Hi. We still have some Token-ring network here at work. So i have a server with One "IBM Olympic PCI T/R NIC" and a Ethernet NIC. But at the installation it only finds the ETH card. At redhat the token card works fine with the "olympic.o" driver. How do i add the T/R card???

    We have also some TokenRing machines.


    I have still our old linux box as router between eth and tr.


    I know it is pure luck to get TR card up and running. It depends on your motherboard, tr adapter and kernel. Same card can function properly on different motherboard with same kernel.


    Automatic configuration of TR cards is maybe impossible. Chance of getting your entire box halted because of TR card is quite propable.


    After adding TR card to my linux box I was not able to restart network at all. It will always hang when starting it again. If i want to restart network i need to reboot box.


    I think Astaro's development people won't add tr support because of these problems. TR drivers are very buggy at best  [:(]


    Of course it would be nice to have support.

    Hi TR-guys,

    as of now Token Ring is not supported.

    When tweaking manually the Webadmin will not recognize your changes and may overwrite them (due to the same problems like with ppp devices) - no configuration of TR devices can be done by the Webadmin.

    I don't know if Astaro's drivers is special.
    But maybe a olympic.o at the right place will make the installations into finding my TR cards. The card often work well if its a PCI card. Its the ISA that's are a pain in the a*s to configure. Please Astaro. Put in the "olympic TR" and the Madge driver. In most of the cases this is the TR cards people have.
