What steps do I need to setup port forwarding?

Port forwarding under ASL is pretty simple to set up, as long as you keep a few rules in mind..

1. Predefine your NAT'd host IP in Network Definitions

2. Predefine the port you want forwarded in Services Definitions.  Some ports are predefined already in Services Definitions, such as port 80 for HTTP

3. Create the inbound rule in Packet Filter Rules


To forward HTTP requests you need to do the following:

1.  In Network Definitions define your internal host - Name: Webserver, IP: 192.168.0.99, Subnet: 255.255.255.255

2.  In DNAT from the Network menu select your external interface as the Pre DNAT Destination and HTTP as the Pre DNAT Service, Webserver as the Post DNAT Destination and HTTP as the Post DNAT Service

3.  In Rules from the Packet Filter menu set From (Client) to Any, Service to HTTP, To (Server) as Webserver, action to Allow

4.  Save the new rule then activate it

Test things from a machine not on your DNAT'd LAN.  Due to the order in which DNAT, rules and routing are processed, from your NAT'd LAN you need to use the NAT IP of your webserver.  There are other discussions on the forum to get around this limitation.

I just got back to the fw and I still can not get port fw runing. 
I resinstalled ASL, did by the steps provided. Where I am confused 
is Step 1.
