IP-Route2 tools (tc)

Hi,

have you at Astaro done anything exceptionally with the latest kernel for ASL 1.8x ? I can't run this tool (tc) any longer with for example this command line:

tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 10: cbq bandwidth 10Mbit avpkt 1000

I need it for bandwidth managment (CBQ) !!  [:S]

    hi octavia,

    dennis will compile a new kernel this week, including whizbang routing and QoS support.
    We will put it on docs.astaro.org.

    The "normal" ASL kernels do not include these features since we do not have a configuration frontend for them (yet).

    Hi Tom,

    I have downloaded and installed this new kernel after your description from asl-kernel-UNSUPPORTED-README.txt, without success. I get the following error at boot time:
    .

    .
    request_module[block-major-r]: Root fs not mounted
    VFS: Cannot open root device "307" or 03:07
    Please append a correct "root=" boot option
    Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:07

    Whats wrong ??

    /boot/etc/lilo.conf :
    # lilo starten: lilo -r /boot
    boot=/dev/hda
    vga = normal
    read-only
    message=/etc/astaro-boot-log991211
    prompt
    timeout=60
    image = /bzImage
        root = /dev/hda7
        label = astaro
        password=********
        restricted

    Do I have to start from scratch ??  [:$] 
    or is it possible to append some command to lilo at boot time ??

    ooops, I acidentially packaged one of the new SCSI kernels ..

    reinforcement on the way, hang on. to get your system up again, 

    1. boot from a floppy set (slackware should work)

    2. mount /dev/hda7 as /asl

    3. get networking up to do FTP

    4. put new kernel package in /asl (out in a few hours)

    5. unpack kernel package

    6. run 'lilo -r /asl/boot'

    7. boot

    sorry for that fuckup, I hope you are a linux guru and that you can handle the above.
    If not, you'll have to reinstall.

    everything is OK now, managed to get around that trouble I ran into with wrong compiled kernel....without to start from scatch  [:)]
