PROXY HTTP

hello,
I'm trying to configure the HTTP proxy. I've got some questions.....
Is it possible to use the proxy http without the proxy DNS?????
When i use a proxy http, do i have to configure the packet rules for HTTP traffic between internet and my private lan???
Is there a how-to doc for configuring HTTP proxy????

hi jemors,

When using the proxy, you do not need to configure packet filter rules for HTTP. The basic setup is simple, just switch it on and set your LAN network as "allowed". Then clients can access the proxy on port 8080 of the ASLs internal interface.

Thx a lot for your reply Tom. Now the proxy HTTP works very well.
I've got another question... Is it possible to log all the internet connection for all people in a file???? I try to find that in reporting/http proxy but i didn't see anything.....

for the log file, look for

/var/chroot-squid/var/squid/logs/access.log

on the firewall itself. scp it out and you can process it with WebTrends, for example.

If you are using proxy auth, and want to track user activity, try SARG for processing your access.log file.

search on www.freshmeat.net will give you a result.

Nice html reporting this is...
