The problem is the "w/ NAT" part. "w/o NAT" would work if you open some port ranges.

Netmeeting uses the H323 protocol family.

NAT is to H.323 what the big meteor was to the dinosaurs.

That's too bad.  That means all the ADSL folks out there with routers that NAT are unable to use Netmeeting.  Netmeeting works through Checkpoint FW1 so I assume it must have an integrated H.323 proxy.  Anyone know of a good SIP substitute for Netmeeting on the Windows or Linux platform?

I think most low cost NAT boxes such as Dlink, Linksys, SMC and Multi-Tech do support Netmeeting pass-thru.

I have a cable modem w/ a single IP.  I was just feeling for the DSL users out there.  Seems now like I'm the only one with the problem!   [;)]h.

these existing netmeeting NAT implementations are all imcomplete. they may handle simple point-to-point calls with Netmeeting, but when it comes to more complicated matters like multiparty calls or gatekeeper routed calls, most of them just choke. Checkpoint's implementation is probably the most complete, but it is not perfect either. 

There is a very simple H323 NAT rewriting module for linux, but only with single call support and in a pre-pre-alpha stage.

H323 was not designed with NAT in mind. SIP, on the other hand, can be very nicely proxied, and once the first working SIP clients are on the market, we will support SIP.  [:)]
