DNS configuration

Hi,

We have unique Domain AD that contain several DC. the DNS is integrated in AD.

In the correct configuration, each DC of our domain register two records in the forward zone with this format

(same as parent folder) Name Server (NS) <DC hostname>.<Domain name>

(same as parent folder) Host (A) <DC ip>

Recently, we noticed the new record (same as parent folder) Host (A) <DC ip> without his associated NS record. This ip address is not DC address but Client address.

Is it possible for Sophos to create this type of record.

what firmware are you on? There was a bug before 9.503-4: Error NUTM-8387 [Web] UTM registering all of it's IPs in DNS when joining a domain at UTM 9.502.

sur quel firmware êtes-vous ? Il y avait un bogue avant la version 9.503-4 : Erreur NUTM-8387 [Web] UTM enregistrant toutes ses IP dans le DNS lors de la connexion d'un domaine à la version 9.502 d'UTM.

Salut,

En effet, ce n'est pas le fait que l'ensemble des adresses ip du Sophos soient enregistrées au niveau du DNS (un comportement normal ) mais ce qui est anormale c'est que les enregistrement soient de type "identique au dossier parent".

Ce que reviens a reposer la question suivante:

Est ce que le fait de touche à partie configuration du DNS de Sophos peut engendrer de tels enregistrements (vu que la configuration accepte plusieurs cas: Obtain DNS from DHCP, Obtain DNS from PPPoE et Static DNS ) ? si oui, dans quel cas?

Salut,

ok, je soupçonne que ce comportement n'est pas la faute de l'UTM. Il pourrait s'agir d'enregistrements DNS périmés.

Pour répondre à votre question, je ne connais aucune autre erreur que l'UTM provoque de telles entrées DNS.
