wan ip subnet changes

i have been trying to setup a second internet connection on my UTM, the connection has a block of 8 ip's assigned on a /29 subnet, when i set the address of the router on this range and use the /29 255.255.255.248 subnet the UTM saves the connection but by the time it has reconnected it reverts to a /32 255.255.255.255 subnet, ive tried deleting the interface and re adding it ive also have several lengthy conversations with my isp who are amendment its not their problem and its my network  even tho my other isp is configured and working correctly with a simlar configuration

  • Possible the ISP send the /32 mask while connecting.

Check the PPPoE logfile after re-connecting.

I am not the PPPxX specialist, but Point-to-Point may not allow Point-to-multipoint connections...

The following article describe how to use the /29 network behind the PPPoE connection - not AS PPPoE Connection.

I would try to use 1.2.3.4/32 or a dynamic IP for PPPoE and bind the /29 subnet as additional Address/network to some interface.

  • thanks for the reply, my isp swore blind that they didn't provide the /32 mask and said it was down to my setup, the root of the problem was using 2 wan connections and uplink balancing, the UTM says one connection is offline and puts 'error' for the link status so this connection wouldn't work but the other would once i disabled the other connection this one worked as expected once i had set this connection as the main one and re enabled the other that one was put into the error state but the it worked inbound.

ive been having a few issues with UTM lately from HA configuration not syncing to unable to get the second wan connection functioning, i think it may be time for either a reinstall or a factory reset and start from scratch
