2 WAN Links with Failover

Hi all

I have a SG 115 Firewall with 2 active WAN Links(see Screenshots)

The Main Internet Line is connected via eth0 to the FW

and the Backup Line is connected via eth2 to the FW

Now i want to realize a WAN Failover, which means if the Main WAN Link connected on the eth0 Port of the Firewall fails, the firewall should then automatically switch to the second ISP

I cofigured Upllink Balancing but it dosen't work, will say: if the Traffic goes over the second Internet Line no streaming is possible and i can't also open any websites.

What do I need to configure in the Weight Settings (see Screenshots) to enable the Full Speed on the 2nd Internet Line (Router is correctly configured and connected to the ISP) and streaming?

Traceroute to Main WAN0 Link

Traceroute to 2nd Line (DHCP enabled)

  • Hallo,

Normally, I prefer to have both interfaces active unless you are billed by usage volume and money is tight.  With both in 'Active Interfaces', I set the weight to 0 for the failover link.

In any case, you want the weight for External to be 100.  It is not recommended to set persistence to less than 5 minutes.

It's a bit confusing that your first picture shows the failover link as disabled.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi Bob

Thanks for your reply. I will try it.

Yes i have disabled, which is not necessary, as i have noticed, cause the FW do this herself.
