Root partition is filling up

Hello,

as of lately one of our UTM9 duo's in HA are borking up.

I tried to read through some articles that can be found here, but my limited knowledge about linux commands and i slightly different situation in the results with df / du commands make me unsure of that to do.

I added some screens and know that i need to solve this problem on both the master and slave through the ha_utils ssh command.

But hopefully you can advice me on what seems to be the actual problem of hogging the root partitions space.

  • How many Up2Dates are waiting to be applied?

  • At the moment there are 6 updates available, patterns are said to be up 2 date

    Current version:

      9.503-4

  • Try applying the Up2Dates one-at-a-time beginning with 9.504 and working up to 9.506.  Then do df -h again and show us the result (it's easier to read and respond if you copy the text from the command line instead of inserting pictures).

  • Thank you,

our maintenance window is scheduled for 9. June, will monitor the disk usage during and after the updates. After which we'll also switch to manual update checking.

Does the UTM clean up de up2date files after applying the updates?

If the problem exists after the updates i'll upload the new usage rapport.

  • Does the UTM clean up de up2date files after applying the updates? - Yes, and that's why you don't want to get too far behind - the partition gets too full to apply them all at once.  Sometimes, if the first one to apply is large, your only choice is to delete some of the newest ones to make room.

  • Hi, I currently have 11 update files in /var/up2date/sys and the UTM is complaining about low disk space on the root partition.

If I delete the 6 most recent files from this directory will the web UI update to reflect that only 5 updates are available to be installed or is something else required to let the UTM know that the files have been removed?

I have just set the firmware download to manual so that it won't re-download the files.

  • You could do that.  I would Up2Date to 9.506 now.  You might check the recent threads on 9.601 and 9.602 to see if you have any exposure to one of several glitches.  I've been running 9.602 in my lab with no issues.
