How to run XFCE4 or other Linux desktops over HTML5 VPN for either a RDP or VNC desktop connection?

Hello,

I think 3 years ago I was playing with the HTML5 VPN on Sophos. I was able to get it to allow me a VPN connection to my UBUNTU computer and able to run a XFCE / XFCE4 remote desktop over it. My old UTM machine died and I decided to try to lear and run the XG system, and after 8 months of working with it I felt it needed more work and lacked a few features still in UTM so I built a new UTM system and been running that for about 9 months. So re-learning UTM a bit. A few years ago I was able to get a HTML5 VPN connection to my one Ubuntu box and run XFCE desktop. Fo the life of me I can't seem to remember how I did it and if I had notes from back when, I can't seem to find them. I am sure I just need to know how to set up the HTML5 VPN settings so that it invokes the command to give me a XFCE desktop session.

I assume I need to Select the correct connection type, and then someplace put in the command to invoke the xfce desktop to be launched. But  I do not see such field or drop down to custom the command. I am going to make sure VNC server is running on the Ubuntu machine and maybe that was how I did  it. I thought there was a way to pass the command to launch the XFCE directly.

Is anyone out there running a GUI be it XFCE, Gnome, KDE or other remote desktop? If so I assume by a VNC connection?

Sincerely,

Chad
