User preferences missing

I'm using SUM authenticating on the Active Directory.

When I log to an UTM9, the WebAdmin > "User Preferences" menu doesn't show up.

Is it a bug?

We need to increase the "Items per page" and disable the Flash reporting and I can do this only for the admin (local) account.

    The short answer
    The User Preferences tab in WebAdmin is not shown, when the user has logged in via SSO from the Gateway Manager, since that user does not have a (local) user object.

    The slightly longer answer
    The User Preferences tab in WebAdmin is shown iff (if and only if) the user has a corresponding user object.

    A user object can be created in the following ways (on the UTM)

    •  Create a user manually and add her to the 'allowed users' field
    •  Have a user automatically generated after a successfull backen authentication, where the corresponding backend group is entered into the 'allowed users' field


    When logging in from the Gateway Manager (in V4) there is never a user object. It is made sure that the user logging in does not accidentally clash with an existing user on the UTM. E.g. the user 'admin' is often used on the UTM and on SUM. When logging in to the UTM from Gateway Manager as 'admin', this user is not the same as the local 'admin' and does therefore not use her user object. 

    In versions before UTM9, there were distinct user objects used for SSO, such that the user always had a user object. This, however, made it impossible to transfer the actual username to the UTM. The new SSO does transfer the username. The user is logged in with the username which she had on the SUM, and all changes made on the UTM are logged such that it is clear that the user has logged in via SUM.

    The result is, that the SSO-user does not have a user object, and therefore no user preferences.
