Just fresh installed a home box from a 8.950 disk, then up2dated to 9.0 soft. After upgrade, established IPSec VPN to my work net, (which worked fine earlier today under 8.3), after about 10-15 minutes, the VPN dropped and the main site to site control panel says "There is no Site-to-site VPN status information available" - the connection no longer appears. It's still activated and listed in both the remote gateways and ipsec connection tabs, but the live log is frozen for the last 25 minutes, even after reboot... Any guidance as to what I should check?
I used a DNS resolved host for the remote VPN server, vpn.work.com, then decided to turn on DNS request routing for *.work.com to go to an internal server on the work VPN, which then dropped the resolution for vpn.work.com which then..... exposed the fact that I'm quite daft. Static'd the VPN server, all is well. Please return to DEFCON 5.
