This becomes a little interesting. This morning to create traffic I logged into the sixxs site and the site reported I was using IPv6. I accessed a number of IPv6 sites. The ADSL service carrying the IPv6 showed lots of traffic, but the graphs show most of that traffic being carried on the IPv4 ASL service. There is traffic recorded on the IPv6 ADSL service.

More information. This afternoon I disabled the IPv4 only link and moved all traffic onto the dual stack link. The ADSL service with the link down immediately changed state to up. I disabled the multipath rules and traffic preceded as normal.
I will re-run the tests tomorrow when the family are not using the network.

which log would you like? PPPoE, IPv6, kernel?

The ones with the error messages?

I am getting very confused with this. The network usage graphs for yesterday show lots of traffic on the ASDL (IPv4) link which was disabled a the time, while the ADSL (IPv6) was setup to carry both packet types, shows no traffic for that period. Of course when the link is disabled there aren't any graphs created or updated for it, I only restored the link the link this morning with multi-path rules enabled to split the traffic between the two links.

I found the cause and it is repeatable.

If you try to activate 2 IPv4 gateways, the second link is shown as down even if you correct the gateway to be IPv6 and it save correctly the link state never changes.

Work around. Disable all gateways by removing the tick, then enable the correct gateways one as IPv4 and the other as IPv6 and the link state changes to up.
