[8.940][BUG] RED 10 Rev.3 does not connect using USB Stick

We tried using a Huawei E162 which work fine connecting to an ASG v8. After moving RED to new v9 beta the RED does not connect to ASG using 3G / UMTS, Network is running well. There must be an issue. Config for RED was identical.

    Hi Ralf,
    thanks for reporting! Did you boot the RED in UMTS mode or did you unplug the WAN cable? What is the REDs blink code?

    I have booted with WAN Cable plugged in and removed the cable later. After removing the cable WAN light stop flashing. Then after apx. 10 seconds System light is blinking red. After add. 5 seconds System is green again and Tunnel is blinking. Internet is always flashing green. After one minute System is red and Internet blinking green. 
    The goal is to use RED initially only with USB Device. We have an agreement with a local City here to span a big public WLAN over the whole city including hotels, public rooms and places for tourists. We would like to use DSL and UMTS for the Hotspots. This is why we are evaluating actually. Probably more functionality is required, we are proofing actually.

    Hi Ralf,

    did you use the same stick on the RED device using v8? Or only on the ASG?

    I have a working USB setup with the V9 with another stick, but I assume if it works with V8 it should work with V9 as well.
    Just for my understanding, the RED can be connected via cable to your V9 ASG but the UMTS fallback mode failed. With a V8 ASG with identical RED settings everything works fine?

    Hi,
    i invested some hours, did a new setup of asg v9 beta. 1st i went back to our v8 productive asg. Here is the RED working fine. One time i had to remove usb stick and plugged it back, then all was fine. Several tests showed no further issues.
    Then i switched the RED to the new ASG v9 beta and it's the same. WAN Connect is working, UMTS with USB not. Reinsert of USB does not change anything. There must be an issue! v8 ok, v9 not! I tested with two different supported USB Devices. The light of the USB Stick normally is blinking green, with connect blue. Connect to v9 i only see short after insertation this, then the lights are off. Which devices are working successfully with v9? Link to Amazon will be good. I need a working device best with external antenna connector!

    I'm out of office until Friday. The USB Sticks are Vodafone K3765-Z and T-Mobile Huawei E162. The Linux Codes can be provided on friday, if required..

    Hi Ralf,
    I was able to setup a UMTS connection to my V9 using the Vodafone K3765-Z. 
    But nevertheless I think I know how to solve your problem. Did you delete the RED from your V8 ASG before you tried to connect the RED to V9 or did you only disable the RED interface on the V8 machine? 
    I experienced exactly this issue ("after apx. 10 seconds System light is blinking red. After add. 5 seconds System is green again and Tunnel is blinking. Internet is always flashing green. After one minute System is red and Internet blinking green.") after not deleting the RED from ASG 1.
