[8.930][CLOSED] Restore with USB stick "skipped" in VMware

I managed to lock up 8.930 in VMware Server in my laptop (HP Probook 4730s with Win7 Pro) when I imported an incorrect RED file from our 8,302 box at the office.  As usual, I'm deep in backups, but when I tried to reboot the instance, it wouldn't read the config, and I could no longer login to WebAdmin.  I tried three times.

So, I re-installed.  The new instance wouldn't read from the USB stick either.

I suspect an issue with the USB driver.
