[8.920][ANSWERED] DHCP options for pac file

Hi All

Since we now have the DHCP option I thought I would be easier to get option 252 for the proxy file (pac file)

However, it seems that we have 3 different options in UTM to perform the same task

1)Set option 252 for the specific DHCP server to use the pac file (pic  attached)

Question: Do we need to configure the "Enable HTTP Proxy Auto Configuration" option on the same DHCP server?  Or we gust need to point to the pac file

2)Enable the "Enable HTTP Proxy Auto Configuration" on the DHCP server
NOTE[[:P]]roviding via DHCP works with Microsoft's Internet Explorer only. Regarding all other browsers you need to provide the PAC file manually.

3) Point the clients to the PAC file

    As far as i understand it, you always need to "Enable HTTP Proxy Auto Configuration" in the http proxy section, otherwise the http proxy doesn't deliver the PAC file. You can additionally add a DHCP option to inform your client machines of the presence of a such a PAC file, but you don't have to. You can manually add the URL to the PAC file to very browser, as you correctly stated in your question above.



    Additional information: In the original setup scenario for the first customer where we added the PAC file feature, the UTM wasn't used as DHCP/DNS server for that network. That customer used their internal MS/ADS infrastructure to deploy the auto config information to the workstations.
