Has anyone tried this? I don't expect it would work, but it would be interesting to know as I have a customer that will want me to move them when V9 is stable.
This should work. V9 isn't that different from V8 anyway (technologically it's more some kind of 8.4) and we haven't implemented any hard limitations forbidding such an upgrade. Just make sure that the system actually meets the minimum system requirements for V9.
The only real caveat is the licensing. V9 requires the "new" licensing scheme that we introduced with V8, so you should make sure that you either already use it or immediately upgrade when switching to V9.
