Packetfilter view fixed/improved in v8.930.

I've been checking it each successive beta hoping for a UI refresh, but to me it still looks largely the same as the first beta version.  Snow blindness is still an issue for me.  Compared to previous versions of ASG where each new release brought a more modern, streamlined and generally slick feel, I'm still struggling with the current version - it feels like a step backwards.  Now that we're at v8.980 and the soft release is coming soon, I assume this is how the end result is going to look.  I think this is a shame - the UI look and feel was one of the aspects of ASG that always made me proud to use it, whereas the new Snow White Edition feels bland and more generic.  I realize this is purely a UI branding issue, and maybe it's just me having trouble at this point - have others grown to like the new style during the beta?

I've gotten used to it (in some ways it looks "cleaner").  Change can be difficult for some, though.

I first I was kind of ugh, **** this is horrible. 
Then I was... it's not so bad.

Then I went back to v8... and I was like ****, give me v9 already!
So overall it is change, but a good one i think in the long run. [:P]

Same as in other companies too:
Marketing is more important than function and these guys are the first that are away when the trouble starts.

My ultimate test is, what do new users think. They have no bias to previous styles or colors, so their reactions are better than mine at truly judging whether the new UI is good, bad, or just different. First reactions from almost everyone I showed the first incarnation to were negative, whether they had seen a previous WebAdmin version or not. It was way too bright, and most everyone I demoed it to felt compelled to comment on that fact without my asking.  Now, reactions are unanimously positive. The changes made early on were subtle, but they have made a significant difference. 

After typing the paragraph above, I went and asked our pre-sales engineers, who demo the product multiple times daily, what customer feedback they've had on the new UI throughout the beta process. Without leading my questioning in any way, the feedback they received was identical to mine. Before the changes, customers volunteered negative feedback about the brightness - and after the changes, all negativity stopped completely. 

It's hardly scientific, but I take it as a strong vote that the new color scheme isn't any worse than V8 - just different. The only negative reactions I receive now, are from existing users who have perhaps developed a bias for the V8 look.

I agree, Alan.  The only reason I liked the old scheme was because it was my college colors! [;)]

Seriously, the only problem I had with the original new scheme was the the lack of clear definition (things too bright or washed-out).  Once that problem was addressed, I haven't complained since.

(Now, about the fact that the old KnowledgeBase isn't up, thus blocking our ability to find documents and to know what concrete suggestions we can make for the new site...)
