[8.900][BUG] Endpoint AV Out of Date

Action Center in Windows 7 (32-bit) is showing out of date on a fresh install. Force def update and there weren't any new files to download.

Also, and maybe I missed this, but will UTM 9 act as a central repository for AV defs? Initial install took FOREVER. The ETA was not even close, which reminds me that something would be helpful in step 6 of the installer so you know there is some progress being made. I had to right-click on the Sophos tray icon to see the update progress.

    That is awesome that it will be available to home users for free. Great News. I'm looking forward to it on the business side as well. I just hope the prices points will be competitive with other A/V products on the market.


    I'd argue that if not free to business users, it shouldn't even cost half of competitive AV software since the UTM protection already covers at least half the collective threat and has already been paid for in the business licenses - especially the FG subscriptions.  

    While I'm sure persuasive arguments will be used supporting the value of extending and integrating protection, and in centralized deployment and management, there are competitively priced, centralized AV tools that deliver endpoint security solutions for low double and even single digit numbers per client (not to mention the free versions some shops utilize).  To some, it will be difficult to justify upgrading the hardware to handle what has been predicted to be increased loads on the hardware as well.  I'll be curious to see what the market response is to the pricing when announced.  I'm sure the discussions at HQ regarding pricing have been interesting on this topic.

    That being said, I'm optimistic for this feature and looking forward to giving it a fair consideration for inclusion in our production environment.
