I recently noticed that my virtual UTM (running 9.201-23) is having issues with DNS lookups.
There is an entry saying it should go look up ad.domain.com at 192.168.1.1. However if you run a query with nslookup on either the console or a remote client it comes back with no results.
I Googled and looked at the forum for known issues regarding this but nothing came up. I've seen the DNS guide on this forum however that doesnt seem help me at all.
In the end I ended up making a second virtual UTM running the same version. What I did first was enable IPv6 and setup the interfaces just like my current UTM has. Then I made the exact same DNS Request Route entry and I ran the DNS query. It works! Great!
After that I shut the virtual UTM down, took a snapshot and rebooted it. From there on I started rebuilding my current UTM on the newly created one and after I while I decided to run the DNS query again. However this time it failed.
I logged into the console checked the named.conf file to make sure the configuration in BIND is correct and it is.
Also if I run "nslookup test.ad.domain.com 192.168.1.1" the result comes back fine.
