[9.201-23]Authentication page not shown when going to https first

Hi all,

We have HTTPS scanning set to URL filtering only in transparent mode with browser authentication.

When users view normal websites they are prompted to go to the logon screen.

However, when users go to any https site it will say web page not available

The webpage at https://facebook.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error code: ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED

Is this normal or is this a bug?

Hi Matt

I have experienced similar issues with transparent proxy but it seems to be browser dependent also as I have different results with various browsers

I suspect its something to do with the SSL protocol in that it doesn't allow a redirection inside itself because it is a secure web page and in turn doesn't show the logon page.

What should happen is that even though you have selected HTTPS "URL Filter Only" for this request it will do full HTTPS man-in-the-middle. It should give the browser a certificate signed by the UTM, and then show the browser logon page.

Can you try a different browser and for this test can you trust the UTM as a signing authority?
