[9.195] EP inconsistencies

I have been back playing with EP for testing. I am still seeing inconsistencies with the install for EP. What I see happening is that install the ep client on windows 7 laptop. On the UTM says registered and protected. I never see the web proxy settings pushed down to the laptop. I have waited an hour. I check the Programdata\sophos\web control folder and the only thing that shows up is the Interventions folder. I unlock tamper protection and than remove the ep client. I than reinstall and everything is fine. 

Just not seeing consistency with the install. This is with windows 7.1 with the latest patches.

    The install should be consistent, its possible that there is something odd about the timing.

    A quick rundown for debugging purposes:
    - There is the initial download and install
    - There is a connection for the EP getting AV policy and turning off/on features
    - There is a separate connection for the EP getting Web Control policy

    So if things are not working, try this:

    • On UTM, create an AV policy that does not have on access scanning.  Now assign that to your computer group.

      • EP should be updated within 10 minutes and the EP UI should show On Access scanning is disabled.

    • On EP UI, see if Web Control is enabled

    • This configuration should come via same connection as AV policy.  Its a good double check that you remembered to turn on Web Control in the computer group.

    • On computer running EP look at directory c:\programdata\sophos\web control\Policy

      • This directory should exist if the second Web Control connection is working
      • This directory should have files in it.  When a web policy changes on the UTM there should be new files (sort by date) within 10 minutes
