[9.195-6] High RAM Utilization

Yesterday I noticed slow web browsing. When I looked at resource usage on the UTM dashboard, my RAM numbers were much higher than usual. Memory now stays around 75% but has gotten as high as 88%. I only have 1.5GB of RAM but UTM had been using around 60% of my RAM until 2/10. I upgraded to 9.194 on 02/06 and then to 9.195 on 2/16. I changed HTTPS (SSL) traffic setting from Do not scan to URL filtering only late on 2/09. Setting this back to Do not scan did not change the used RAM.

I turned off Web Protection and RAM dropped to 45%. If I enable Web Protection, RAM utilization jumps again.

I am using Web Protection in Transparent mode. I have several devices in my home but only two users. Firewall, IPS, Web Filtering, Network Visibility, Endpoint Protection (with 1 client), Remote Access, Antivirus, and AntiSpyware are active. I am not using email protection or web application firewall.

Has anyone else seen a jump in RAM utilization?

    As already mentioned...UTM9.0 and 9.1 general recommendations is:
    - recommended minimum 2GB
    - 1GB is allowed, but expect performance issues

    From my experience UTM works with wifi, web, app control and ATP with 1GB mem. If additional services are in use - especially IPS, 2GB are definately absolutely minimum to get is haldways work useable.

    So upgrade to min. 2GB mem.

    And in general high memory usage on UTM is beneficial for performance...UTM always grabs as much mem as possible, as it's working similar to a server and not like a client (which is optimized to keep as much mem free as possible). 

    As a general thumb rule lot of free memory means it's oversized with mem (which isn't bad, but you've spent more money than necessary) lot of swapping says it's undersized with mem for the features in use.
