[9.195][BUG] Various SPX Questions & Problems

I have been working through various tests of SPX Encryption and using the Outlook plugin on Outlook 2013. The configuration I am testing with has Outlook using an external IMAP host/account for incoming email and using the UTM as outgoing (SMTP). 

Questions:

1: What is the minimal mail routing requirement for using SPX? Is it only that outgoing mail must go through the UTM - either through the client directly or if connected to Exchange, then Exchange must relay outgoing through the UTM?

2: If Outlook users send outgoing email through an Exchange server, is the only requirements 1: Outlook Plug installed and 2: Exchange must route/relay outgoing mail through the UTM?

3: Will a MySophos account always be required to download the Outlook plugin?

4: Plugin does not appear available for download through the link on the SPX/Outlook page in the UTM – Will the links work when we reach GA?

5: HTML in email (signature for example) is not supported and the PDF will show the HTML code and some garbled text and characters

6: Although my first couple of tests using SPX encryption worked, password accepted and PDF opened, a clicking on "Reply" took me to the portal - subsequent tests have failed and I am unable to open the PDF with the password provided and on some test emails, when I clicked on “Reply” in the PDF, I got a “500 Internal server error” “the requested URL was not found”

7: When password is sent back to the sender, there is no indication as to which sent message this is the password for? If someone sends multiple SPX emails to different recipients, how will they know which password to send to which recipient?

    Hi,

    thanks for testing SPX.

    I'll try to answer your questions:

    1) mails that should get SPX encrypted have to go through the UTM as outgoing. So the routing domains on the UTM have to be your sender domains. If you use Exchange, as you said, mails have to be relayed through the UTM.
    2) yes, SOA and mailrouting like 1)

    3) there should be no need for a MySophos account in the future, but direct download links on the SOA webadmin tab.
    4) the links should work when GA is reached. For now have a look at this thread.

    5) can you provide the original mail and the encrypted pdf?

    6) without any detailed description of your setup, configuration, logs and steps you performed I can only guess what is happening.

    7) the password notification email should state the original recipient for the SPX mail. For multiple recipients you should therefore be able to determine which password you have to provide to which recipient.
    I see a problem though when sending multiple mails to the same recipient in a short time. Maybe it would be good to include the subject of the original mail in the notification too.

    When clicking on 'reply' I'm getting the same error.

    In addition I have two other problems.

    1. I encrypted the mails on a windows 8.1 machine running Outlook 2013. The encryption with Outlook itself works. But I can't open the encrypted pdf files. The Adobe Reader says that the pdf is either a not supported file type or is damaged. On a Windows 8.1 with Outlook 2010 it does not work either. Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 seems to work.

    2. The encryption has some problems with the german umlaute (like Ä Ü Ö). In the encrypted pdf are black blocks for these letters. But only in the mail body. The header is fine.
