When assigned a static dhcp to a host's mac address, it should be removed from the general dhcp pool to avoid IP conflicts. This is currently not happening as sporadically device1 with a static dhcp address set will have it's ip address handed to device2 if it, device1, happens to be off at the time.
Hi, from my understanding you have to either assign and address outside of the pool range or change the pool range if you wish to use the originally assigned address.
Note – To avoid an IP address clash between regularly assigned addresses from the DHCP pool and those statically mapped make sure that the latter are not in the scope of the DHCP pool. For example, a static mapping of [FONT="Courier New"]192.168.0.200[/FONT] could result in two systems receiving the same IP address if the DHCP pool is [FONT="Courier New"]192.168.0.100 – 192.168.0.210.[/FONT]
If you're coming from a Windows DHCP server, this may be contrary to what you're used to - I remember that Windows 2003 Server, at least, would not let you assign static addresses that were outside the DHCP scope.
