that looks strange, do you find any hints in up2date.log? This host is only used for system- and pattern-up2dates. In addition to that it's the one in Asia. The server in EU or US should be faster in your case and therefore preferred.
Do you use a HA/cluster setup? When patterns are not in the same version on a HA/cluster, the system will not use patch RPMs and will download the full pattern. But even in such a case, it should not result in a traffic of 10GB/day.
