[9.080][ANSWERED] UTM Roadmap (specifically for OpenVPN)

I noticed that UTM 9 went GA last July. If UTM 9.1 goes GA in May, that's around 10 months. Is that typical?

Is there a list of planned features (even a preliminary list) for UTM 9.X or whatever the next release will be called?

The reason I'm asking is because the lack of support for UTM to connect with an openvpn server is a big issue for me. We selected UTM because of its features, mistakenly thinking that because it used OpenVPN it could connect to any OpenVPN server, but we found out that is not the case. After emailing Sophos support I found out there is no commitment whatsoever to deal with this issue, despite it being relatively high on the list of requested features. Also, Sophos employees on this board have been notably silent on this issue. I'm impressed with UTM otherwise, but if Sophos has no intention to support connections to OpenVPN servers (as an http or bit torrent proxy), I'm going to start looking for an alternative, such as pfsense.

I hope someone from Sophos will finally open up on this issue.

    Is it possible for you to use a different kind of vpn? 

    UTM support all site2site vpn tunnel.  And it can be tweaked to connect to PPTP server (act as a vpn client). 

    If you must use openvpn you could maybe do it on a real linux machine. 

    Just some idea. 

    I would also like if the utm could be used to connect to pptp/l2tp/openvpn native client and show that as a virtual interface.

    The problem is not so much related to the VPN technology, but that UTM builds a wall around the configuration of the VPN, inherently limiting it to site to site configurations where both sites are UTM. In order to get UTM to connect to a non-UTM openvpn server, I had to go into utm via the back door and hack the configuration files. Even then, UTM seems to be rejecting the route pushed back from the vpn server. Despite indications that some people were apparently able to get this working in previous versions of UTM, I don't think it's possible in this version. I'm looking for alternatives, one of which is a Linux server, others are ditching utm entirely for something like pfsense. If pfsense could run on a hyper-vs server, I would have already switched to it. pfsense is not dissimilar to UTM in its functionality, but it is also open in ways that UTM currently is not.
