I'm curious how this will work with imports of 9.00x configurations? (I haven't tried the beta yet) 

a. will new host defintions be created automatically during import to match existing static DHCP definitions?

b. if not, will there be a way to create them by editing the static DHCP definitions?

Yes Barry! I used the 9.0 backup
There was a bug about duplicated services for NAT rules, but i can't reproduce that

going on the upgrade, the answer to (a) would be yes. You will need to clean them up which is a lot easier with the new feature.
There are no static definitions under dhcp or dns, everything is now managed by network definitions.

The 'One Definition to Rule them all' Does look very clean now. Should make it alot easier to manage large databases of objects in a single place.

Only question is with the DHCP tab. What happens  if you assign multiple MAC addresses to a Host; using the Same DHCP Server when more than one device is present in the network?

You usually wouldn't. But as there doesn't seem to be any real error/cross checking; its possible it could cause issues. That's why im asking.
