Hi, to keep everything clean I am starting a new thread but this is a continuation of the thread https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/80/t/64937 .
First, let me say thank you to all the developers / decision makers involved in this for listening and implementing the new throttle button (screenshot 1). However I think the throttle button needs to be fine tuned. The reason I say that is because the QoS tab is labelled download throttling (screenshot 2).
If the throttling is applied to external interface, then indeed it is download throttling, but if you apply the throttling to the internal interface then it is not download throttling anymore since the outbound traffic is throttled. So
1. We either need to apply throttling to external no matter which interface is chosen by the user or make all interfaces behave where shaping is applied to ingress traffic (from the user's perspective and not ASG).
2. Call the other interfaces upload throttling ??? (Probably too confusing with several interfaces / vlans etc but a nice feature).
3. Or perhaps remove the "Throttle" button completely from all other interfaces other than the external interface.
Since the original feature request Networking: QoS for download traffic only asked for download throttling, a throttle button that works for external interface only would make perfect sense so probably choice 1. Although choice 2 is very tempting[[:D]][[:D]]
