[9.060][BUG] DNS request-routing not working

Actually the request routing is working, its the reverse lookup part that is broke. And it is broke only in the manual lookup because all my reports have the correct names of the boxes I am using.

I think the new DNS section in the host definitions is to blame for this.

Hey Robert,

Maybe the Forwarders are interfering with your routes. Please post a screenshot with your Forwarders settings and also the configuration of the DNS request routing entry.

Barry, I believe that's how it's always worked in the past... for them not to makes them useless... so maybe there's a bug.

the forwarder-config is realy simple, there are the two Google DNS Server 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 entered.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes it is a bug, and is referring to the way this domain is validated. If you configure only the first octet of the network you want to be resolved (10.in-addr.arpa), it will work. But, if you narrow down the network ( like you did, using the 3 octets), the query will not be issued.
In the rest, the actual functionality of the DNS Request Routing is working, and indeed as Bruce mentioned the Request Routing has priority against the Forwarders.

Thanks for finding this one! Bind 9.9 changed the default behavior of empty zones regarding RFC 1918 IP addresses.

Will restore the v9.0 functionality in the next beta release and add a hidden confd flag regarding the empty zones called "dns->empty_zones" to be 9.0 compatible, load no empty zones or load all of them (bind 9.9 behavior).
