Since most of the companies mostly do business within the country they are located in, smtp mail from other countries is not needed most of the time. The main reason I used country blocking was for controlling spam but with a blunt deny all communication, it was not the best tool for this purpose. With the addition of exceptions, the new country blocking feature is a lot more configurable and easy to implement.
It would be great if we could refine the exception list and instead of just a block all rule with exceptions, we could get allow all with exceptions too.
So for example I don't need any email from russian federation, but I don't mind them looking at my website. With simple exception list I could then block smtp traffic only while allowing complete access to my web server for example.
This can be further added to the smtp section of Email Protection as in the screenshot below to block countries easily for smtp traffic only.
