I activated the Beta-License.
The Status-screen shows.

Exp. Date: not licensed
Description: This subscription enables basic functions for Network, Email, Web and Wireless Protection. If you want to use more advanced functions in your UTM like RED, HTML5 VPN portal, Wireless Hotspot vouchers, two AV scanners, and others, you can easily upgrade to a fully featured FullGuard license via our MyAstaro licensing portal.

    Gentlemen, this is not a bug.  Basic Guard is a special license available for purchase that enables most of the features on the UTM, but with limitations; it's a commercial license.  Unless you have purchased a Basic Guard license, it will, indeed, show as disabled.  The other features that are part of the beta (or your home license, as the case may be) are licensed and do work fine.
