i installed an endpoint on a windows 8 machine and deployed a policy. Everything seems alright.
We had a downtime on Monday due to the 3.1 update. Maybe you installed during that time or when the update was not entirely finished.
Please try to uninstall the parts you already installed and reinstall the endpoint.
