Isn't it possible show in RED50 display and on the UTM status page also information regarding the 2nd WAN link?

Hmm, we only have 2*20 characters on the display [:(]

"Tunnel is up (wan1)" is exactly 19 chars, so even "Tunnel is up (wan1/2)" is too long ...

So, either we'd have to implement some scrolling or we have to show a really compact message containing lots of info.

Some scrolling should do it.
May be use the keys to stop scrolling and/or change Information displayed.
