Sophos RED 50 beta program

Wow that looks nice, very nice upgrade from the RED10... now how does one get into the RED50 beta? I did the RED10 beta... and it just died on me

The list of external beta testers is entirely based on suggestions of our pre-sales teams. Believe me, I'm very sorry that we cannot serve each request, but the number of available units is limited.

i have several customers with big networks (private) infraestructure and they are requesting to encrypt the private channel with IPsec. One of them has 500 branch offices and to encrypt the channel i have to offer UTM120 to support IPSec and two WAN. If we could use a SOPHOS RED10 or RED50 it could be very good for us and the customer because the cost will go down. 

can we configure the static IP address were the RED10 or RED50 have to stablish de IPSec tunnel without using the public (internet) network?

I will be very pleased if somebody can help me.

You can configure a RED for static IPs.  The tunnel is not IPsec, but it is encrypted with AES as IPsec can be.

The RED is a specialized SSL VPN technology, and it requires a lot of CPU.  For 500 tunnels, you may need a dual 8-processor server with a lot of RAM.

One of the developers mentioned earlier this year that the AES-NI capability of the new Intel processors would be utilized in an upcoming release for the SSL VPN.  You should ask your Sophos representative if this already has been implemented in V9 for RED.  If it has, a dual quad-processor should be sufficient.

in the first post you where talking about a renewed RED-protocol. Does this affect more than the throughput? Is there a change of behavior of the RED compared to the current versions?

It's not a change in the RED protocol when going to AES-NI.  There is, apparently, something added to the RED protocol to make the RD 50's additional capabilites work.

REDv2 can deal with multiple routes between RED peers and thus balance traffic over multiple uplinks.

First Installation was easy and is working fine. Including AP5. 
Only the deployment helper is not running. The RED 50 is shown as an RED 10 after the Wizzard.

@FireKai:  The issue with the deployment helper is already known and being worked on.  Mantis 22791.  Thanks for letting us know though.  Find those bugs and create a new thread to report.
