[ANSWERED] UTM and Copernicus Development Roadmaps

Has there been any official or semi-official statements on how long the UTM software line will be actively maintained once Copernicus is officially available?

Are we talking 1 year, 3 years etc?

If we understand correctly, the focus will shift to Copernicus, and us partners need to understand time lines to serve our customers.

To be frank, Copernicus is giving us pause.  The UI is still a mess and misses some critical functions that I doubt will ever be added.  Our customers have no desire to downgrade to Copernicus.

So if there is still a strong commitment to UTM software for say 3 years, we can feel comfortable renewing customers and doing *some* new installs.  If the UTM line is doomed before that time, I have to think about migrating customers now.

    right now copernicus doesn't even have feature parity with UTM so i frankly would not be concerned about it until copernicus is truly a new product..right now it hasn't even come out of it's alpha cocoon yet..[:)]

    As true as this maybe, I have a feeling the GA would be available around November. From what I am getting beta testing, this is mostly a feedback beta. The feature set is already decided, minor UI tweaks were already made after the first beta but I don't really see them changing anything.

    So in my eyes, this will be a far inferior project to the UTM initially. Lets hope it doesn't get scrubbed before it matures to something as powerful as the UTM.

    if that is the case copernicus is a nogo as it doesn't even have feature parity with the product it is supposed to be replacing.  if this gets released for commercial sale in its current form then they need to scrap it now and forget the whole thing.  Get feature quality with UTM and your cyberoam products THEN you can make it something new.

    From a partner perspective we are already seeing the ramp up of Copernicus sales material and push to get our customers "ready and excited" for the new release.

    All of that leads us to expect Sophos will push for this replacement sooner than later.

    We have already shared our dismay with this beta product with the sales channel, of course they really dont understand.

    Right now we are taking a wait and see approach.  I think we will understand a bit more once this is GA and we see how its positioned.

    Agreed, But please remember this is a v1 product and hence will not be up to v9.x standards. Sophos has made that very clear in past post. It will take a few more versions at a min to even come close to UTM 9.x
    Though I am very excited about what is to come of this product, Performance seems much better now so we can only hope that the wait will be worth it.
