[ANSWERED] Proxy Architecture

Hello.

Does anybody knows if the proxy service in Copernicus runs in 32-bit or 64-bit?

I'm asking because I'm having a huge problem with a customer that has lots of user in his network. He is running a UTM 625 (24G RAM) but due to the massive usage of the internet, the proxy server is running into several performance problems. Recently we got a feedback from Sophos that the proxy server in current version of Sophos UTM is running in 32-bit, so it means that the proxy service can't address more than 4 GB of memory which is the source of the problem that I'm having with the customer.

Hi Cassiano, It's the exact same proxy engine as in UTM9, so the same limits would apply.

Do we use RAMDISK ? if not is it possible to use RAMDISK if memory is sitting idle ?

Hi Alan,

Does the Engine gonna support 64 bit? We have some big customer where we would like to promote Sophos as web proxy but 4 GB of RAM is a big limit for this kind of env.

Maybe in future release of copernicus you could overcome this limit.

Hey Luk,

I need to correct my last post. It IS the same proxy engine, but its upgraded to 64 bit already. It will be 32 bit on small systems that only support 32 bit kernels, but we'll use all 64 bits if they're there!

We also improved a few other core bits, like caching, to make them more effective and efficient. We'll port these changes back to UTM9 in the future, but for now, they're only available on Copernicus.
