[home edition] torrent download -> time out, unable to resolve dns

I have exactly the same issue and its been driving me crazy.  
Home user license with a very similar setup.
My SUSE and Vista laptop and PS3 seem to work fine, but not my XP PC that runs uTorrent as soon as I start utorrent I cant brows the internet from that PC, stop utorrent and I internet from a browser works again, other computers are not affected.

With torrent downloading I get a DNS unresolved error. 
? Could this be due to the Home user restriction on the number of PC's? Strange that its not affecting my other PC's?

I justfigured out via trial and error that 'Network Security' -'Intrusion protection'  Anti-Portscan' is what is causing the issue. The problem is repeatable is with utorrent uploading/downloading I get a DNS type error and can't browse the internet. As soon as 'Anti-Portscan' is disabled it works. 

Can anyone advise what could be causing this? Is there some other setting?

Hi, Anti-Portscan is not compatible with many P2P apps.

Create a Portscan exception for the PCs running P2P.

I have anti-portscan going on my ASL and can surf without issue on my laptop when doing p2p.  BT doesn't initiate portscans fromt he outside..your client has to announce it's presence to hte trackers..then it gets incoming connections on the port it announces...my desktop's nic is a realtek and i can easily dos myself off the net if i let my bt get too aggressive..the laptop has no such issues behind the same asl..[:)]

My hardware is Lenovo Netvista 8142 which has Broadcom Extreme NIC and the driver is uptodate. so I do not think this is the problem here.
I added a Portscan exception in and out for the torrent PC and it all seems to work fine.

Question: Should it just be a Portscan exception from the PC out?

Put the PC(s) as the Source, and leave the Destination blank (or you can use "Internet" as the Destination).

William, I've also had problems with Portscan Detection; I don't remember if it was with eMule or BitTorrent, but I've got an exception to deal with it.
