I don't understand it. My windows xp computers can connect to Astaro via SSL and PPTP connection and they can find all the computers and browse any shared drives. But for Windows 7 or Windows VIsta it is saying it can't find network after been connected. I am totally lost. Any Help would be appreciated.
PPTP is hard to get to work on win7.
Been fighting to get this to work on 8.003 ( or actually its not the Astaros fault ), and I did get it to work with PPTP on win7 x64 against 8.003 32bit. But its just not worth spending all that time on since alot of the networks I am on breaks PPTP against my Astaro.
However, the L2TP over IPSec works flawless, stabile and everytime.. I would suggest using that or enabling along with the PPTP and use that for the newer clients in Vista / Win7 which is fully supported in the VPN client.
In any case with the PPTP you must remember that the router or firewall needs to be able to pass GRE Protocol 47 traffic. That is sometimes called PPTP Pass Through or VPN Pass Through depending on the manufacturer. Some firewalls and routers, including the built-in Windows Firewall, pass GRE Protocol 47 traffic automatically when TCP Port 1723 is opened. So in other words, you can go into a heap of debugging with PPTP, where in my case it required that I actually used the gateway on remote network, made NAT Masq. on the pool and allowed it to access the lan in packetfilter..
