Advice about mini-pc for astaro

I built a system around FOXCONN | R30-D2 D510 RT.

comments on the system -
  - Wouldn't install w/o turning off the APIC
  - Doesn't appear to be using 2 cores
  - Make sure to buy a low profile ethernet card.  I had to bend mine to fit.

Otherwise, it is working well.  Probably hotter then a system one pieces together themselves, but I am happy with it for the money.

I'm not familiar with the FoxConn board, but some of the issues may be resolved with the new Astaro v.8, which uses a new Linux kernel.

I just built a system around the Intel D510MO board (Atom CPU), in a Mini-ITX chassis with the new Astaro V.8.  Working great so far, and quite inexpensive to purchase, and run, compared to "regular" boards.

Not sure if it meets your "very cheap" qualifier.

I have seen this MSI model:

MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more

I think it's very interesting: Intel ATOM N270 1.6GHz, 2 lan, optional wi-fi, 2gb,  vga+dvi, 4 usb, 3 rsr232 port (!!) for 440 eur!

It has a very strange form factor, I would be curious to know what case I should use

My motherboard was about $180 and the case with power supply was about $80.
I spent about $300USD total, but RAM has gone up a lot since then, and I already had a used laptop drive.

I bought from Logic Supply .com

Actually, life would be so much better if we can just buy those ASG110 /120 from Astaro.

Once we learn how to use it at home, chances are high we would deploy it to work etc

you are right but 120 for home users is too much expensive. Anyway, if I remember well, 110/120 models have 512mb ram, not compatible with v8 that requires 1gb
