Trouble connecting to VM of Essential Firewall

I downloaded the VMWare image of Essential Firewall, and tried to get it running on VMWare Server 3 running on 64 bit Windows 7.  The VM loads just fine.  I can log into the shell.  I cannot access the web admin page.
I have confirmed that the Essentials Firewall has the IP address of 192.168.0.1 and I changed VMnet8 to 192.168.0.2/24.  I have tried loading web admin from IE on my laptop, and from firefox on an Ubuntu VM.  Both just timeout.
I tried on a different Windows 7 laptop with VM Player 3.  I have the same issue.  I must be doing something wrong, but I am following the readme.pdf fairly closely, and the instuctions are so straight forward that I find it hard to imagine that I am missing anything.

    Since the last time I tried to make this work with V7.3, Astaro has created a "Virtual Appliance Readme" document that comes as a PDF with the VMware zip.  "Great!" I thought, but it brought me nothing.

    I changed VMnet8 to 192.168.0.2, even changing the netmask to /16 so that it would see my laptop's wireless IP 192.168.x.y, launched the VMware image and watched the boot complete on the console.  When I try to browse to 192.168.0.1:4444, it times out.  There is no reponse to a ping from a DOS command prompt.  I logged in at the console as root to the virtual instance of Astaro and pinged 192.168.0.2 - nix nada nothing - zilch!

    All three VMware adapters listed at the top show bridged and connected.  What have I done to anger the gods of VMware?

    Hi,
    I had a similar issue first on the the VM Image running on ESXi but it was only due to the fact that all network adapters weren't connected by default. 

    Connecting them fixed the issue immediately.

    I'm using VMware ESXi 4.0.0 Build 171294 and the Astaro 7.5 Image for ESX.
