Hi Everyone, 

thanks to those who have been poking at the early alpha build so far, and welcome to those who are just joining us for the partner beta! 

If you're new to this thread, and wondering if you've missed an announcement somewhere, you haven't. W've just wrapped up a closed pre-release alpha preview, that was shared with a very limited number of partners. 

Welcome now to the start of the Copernicus partner beta! This is an exciting day for us here at Sophos! we've spent nearly a full year working tirelessly on this new project, and today marks a major milestone for us, where we put this in many of your hands for the first time. To help you get started, we have some  documents and links to help you get started.

Just click the link above to get started, choose your download, and install from there using the getting started guide. For software and virtual installs, you'll be sent a serial number, which you'll need to enter to activate the firewall, after installation. If you have any questions from there, let us know!

Also, be sure to mark any issues you report, with the build number in your post subjet. for example, if you install the hardware ISO, named: HW-SFOS_15.01.0_Beta-P-277.iso, your build number is the last three digits in the name, or 277 in this case.

Users experiencing registration issues, please check out this thread

For those updating software and virtual installs previously running the alpha build, there is one tweak you'll need to make to step back from the license bypass we used before. this build removes the license workaround, but also clears the deviceid value.To activate and register the device after upgrading the firmware, you'll need to follow these short command line instructions:

Solution:
1. Go to advanced shell and type the command "gendevid". (without quotes)
2. Verify with command "opcode getpublickey -ds nosync". (without quotes)
3. After this you can follow the normal flow for activation of the appliance.

    Hi toddyo,

    you need to make sure that you fill in all of the fields after the login (Role, Phone number, Company) otherwise the process might fail.

    Hello !

    I have the same issue with
    "Device could not be synchronized, please contact support".

    I did two different registrations and got two different serials. 
    Then i did several new installations at VMworkstation with direct or Firewall internet connection. The registration process was  successful but always the same issue.

    There must be an error at the registration server.

    Just to be sure that there isn't a basic workflow misunderstanding, I'll describe the steps needed here:

    1) download firmware - you may be prompted to fill out information for legal export control compliance purposes. (This is NOT the registration process)
    2) activate the product - on first login, you'll need to activate software and virtual installs, providing the serial number you received by email when requesting the download from the web. Hardware installs will try to auto-activate, but may prompt you if that failed previously, from not being connected to the internet
    3) Registration - following activation, you'll be prompted to register, from within the UI of the firewall. 
    4) Synchronization - the license must be synchronized with the firewall. This will happen automatically at some point, but clicking synchronize will start the process now, and only succeed after registration is complete.

    The POP UP did not initially come up on my end.   After rebuilding the Software Installation, and getting an new Serial Code.  Following the instructions, I then did not notice the button change from Activate to Register.

    The documentation helped me see this [;)]

    The whole process of Activation, through to the initial configuration, I hope is not final...  it's a bit convoluted.

    Alan this is a newly downloaded VMWare Image.  I've already run through the opcode and still get the Sync Error.  The registration worked fine.  I'll try running the opcode again and will let you know the results.

    Are these fresh installs, or vms you're upgrading from the alpha? if they're upgrades, there is a known issue now. I added an update to the first post in this thread with details, but that would be easy enough to miss. so reposting here. can you both confirm whether you've done this, or whether this corrects the problems or not?:

    The registration popped up a window to fill out the info required and then finished.  The only button was Cancel after the registration completed.

    @q2srw77 & @Alda - The serial number in both your cases doesn't seem to have successfully registered. Can you describe what happened when you went through the registration process? did it confirm that registration was successful for you?

    @todd - The serial number in your logs looks like the on that would have been auto-generated by the dummy licensing for the alpha. did you get a chance to enter the new serial you received, on the activation screen?

    ....which browser are you using? I had same problem and switched to Firefox where all buttons were available. I also had to sync the license from webadmin not from registration window - secure.sophos.com web page.

    @azron, glad that this worked for you now, and we are looking closely at how to improve the workflow on this. 

    @q2srw77, I use chrome primarily as well, but its possible some plugin or unknown factor is causing unexpected results. If switching browsers doesn't fix, can you post a screenshot of the problem screen you're mentioning?
