Feature parity between UTM and SFOS

I am pretty sure that the build will evolve over time but I have a question around the features and functionality that is currently missing

Will the SFOS have all of the functionality that the UTM provides or is there a list of features that will be deprecated.  We need to know this so we can avoid using any of those feature for new and current UTM deployments.

It does not matter how a feature is implemented in the new world, it just matters if we would be losing something.

    There are differences, some more impactful than others, but as you speculate, these features will level up over the first couple of SFOS release.

    Hopefully, the BETA goes to a wider audience next week - with this release we will also be publishing a Datasheet and Feature Comparison matrix... which is what would be the most value within this thread.

    I'll be hanging in the for the long haul!

    As functionality is ported over there would obviously be some transition period.

    What is the future for UTM, will it remain a product or will it be killed off in favour of SFOS?  If so what is the support availability for existing UTM customers?

    At the partner conferences recently it was stated there will be a transition period where sophos will maintain three distinct products lines (Sophos UTM, nee: Astaro!), Cyberoam and Copernicus, A.k.a: SFOS, A.k.a: NGFW...

    This transition period is expected to be at least three years, then the road map showed the Sophos UTM transition to SFOS/Copernicus...  YMMV

    oh my lord i hope not.  UTM9 codebase quality is already horrid...if they try to split between 3?  Sends shivers down my spine.

    Seems that a lot of Cyberoam features and functionality, including Layer 8 technology, have been incorporated into the new OS. I would have gone the Cyberoam route but was concerned about the future of the brand/product after the Sophos buyout last year. Having said so, we are very happy with the overall  performance of the Sophos SG 430 series UTMs  although disappointed with features of the Sophos UTM OS that do work work as advertised so looking forward to the new OS.
