Blue Screen under WinXP/SP2 with ASC

I can't believe I'm the only person having Blue Screen problems, so there must be some other variable involved. I've loaded ASC on two different laptop computers and both have ended up being non-bootable with Blue Screen STOP errors and a Windows-Reboot loop. The 2nd one happened immediately after installation, on the reboot that the ASC installer does, so I'm pretty sure the culprit is ASC.

Are there any known 3rd party software conflicts? We tend to run PCAnywhere (11.5), Symantec AntiVirus Corporate (9.x). I haven't tried it on a completely "virgin" PC yet, since it's so hard to find a virgin, even in the PC world, but that's probably my next step.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

which version of asc your are using.

winxp/sp2
asc 8.20 build 69
sav 10.339
pcanywhere 11.5

the programs you are mentioning i have installed on my laptop. no known problems.
check your eventlog in safemode whose creating the problem. check application and system sections.

What module is causing the Bluescreen (Shut off the automatic reboot, via F8 during boot). Remember I had the same trouble with a 3rd party software, but don't remeber what caused it.

Hi,
I had this trouble before I had Zone Alarm on the same machine. After uninstalling it, ASC worked withour problems. Talked to the support stuff and they told me that this is a known issue.

I had Zone Alarm and Windows would blue screen when I enable my wireless adapter on my laptop. I uninstalled Zone Alarm and it worked.

I had serious problems using VMWare if the network-connection is "bridged". After uninstallation of ASC VMWare was working fine again... The first time I had this problem was quite after an update to ASC 8.21, but reinstalling an older version of ASC didn't solve the problem. At this time I don't use bridged connections in the VMWare, but it can not be the final solution :-(

Using bridged network here, no trouble with ASC. What VMWare Version do you use?

I've got this problems with VMWare from 5.0.0 to 5.5.1 (first with 5.5.1, I've tried the older builds later)... But after a long time not using VMWare on my notebook I tried it yesterday again (VMWare 5.0.0) and it seems to be working... I've changed the network settings before so that only my WLAN-connection is bound to the VMWare Bridging-Protocol... I'll try the newer releases of VMWare again in a few days...
