[8.270][NOTABUG][CLOSED] backup restore at install time

Hallo,

i have used the iso in the ESXi 4.1 have the folloring configuration:

ISO -> CD-ROM
Virtual Floppy Disk (with the Backup file on it connected and connected at power)

i have installed the 8.270 and after the first boot i got only the message:

Backup restore           skipped

Skipped service in runlevel 3:   initag restore

I don't know why, a virtual floppy drive is very easy to mount via vShere Client, i USB drive i can not check, because this can not connected via vShere Client to the Remote Host.

i think this must be a bug, in the description you find no specified file name, only the extension is imported.

    The Problem is in vShere, that you can not hotplug a USB Stick, you have to shut down and restart every time the complete ESXi if you connect a USB Stick. 

    Only a Floppy can be used as Hotplug device in a ESX(i) enviorment.


    I fail to see how this is an Astaro issue... this is a VMware issue....

    Hi Alex,

    why do you want to shutdown the whole ESXi for mounting a USB Stick ?

    1) Plug in the USB stick with BackupFile from ASTARO
    2) In the Virtual machine Settings add a USB Hub, klick o.k.
    3) In the Virtual machine Settings add USB (you will get your stick in a new Windows)
    4) Reboot virtual machine with ASTARO on it
    5) Backup will be restored automatically like on a physical USB port without a shutdown of your ESXi [:D]
